A brief delay and some exciting news
The Typewriter's Collage doing a little morphing
Hi all,
I’m sorry for the delay in getting last week’s edition of The Typewriter’s Collage out. Given that it’s an honest account of my journey with depression, I want the piece to be its best: educational, worthwhile, empathetic, and most important of all, I want the jokes to land. You should see it by this week’s end.
Meanwhile: in addition to my usual meanderings, waxing, waning, and other wordsmithing, The Typewriter’s Collage will soon have a new feature: interviews with my pals! I’ve got a lot of friends in the writing trade with great advice to share, plus plenty of horror stories in the writerly profession which envy anything Regan MacNeil could conjure up. (Look it up if you don’t catch the reference. Hint: this the second reference to William Friedkin in The Typewriter’s Collage.)
Thanks, as always, for your support, good wishes, and wonderful feedback. The Typewriter’s Collage aims to please. And while you’re waiting for the next issue, please enjoy this series of random pictures and odds my bodkins captions.
Your humble narrator and friend (in yet another deep dive movie reference),

Ever hear of Bachelor’s Grove Cemetery in Midlothian, IL? It ranks as one of the most haunted places in America. People claim to see all sorts of things within this secluded wooded area, including a mysterious house or barn. This photo was taken by a former student of mine. When he showed it to me, I said “There’s the house!” He didn’t realize it was in the photo and said he hadn’t seen anything while he was there. Make of it what you will.

It’s real! Named after your wartime consigliere.

The masks Ernie Kovacs’ The Nairobi Trio. Some of the luminaries to wear these masks in performance were Jack Lemmon, Frank Sinatra (!), and Ernie’s wife & partner in crime, Edie Adams.

Never politically correct, but always funny! Ladies and gentlemen, presenting The Nairobi Trio!

Ascots. The perfect way to compliment any gentleman’s wardrobe, even at age six months.

An example of clear, concise signage.
That’s all, folks! See you later this week.
